NIMCET - NIT MCA Common Entrance Test
The NIMCET exam usually comprises the following sections:
- Mathematics: This section tests your mathematical aptitude and may include topics such as algebra, calculus, probability, statistics, numerical methods, etc.
- Analytical
Ability and Logical Reasoning: This section evaluates your problem-solving
skills, logical reasoning, and ability to analyze data.
- Computer
Awareness: This section assesses your knowledge of computer fundamentals,
basic terminology, hardware, software, and general awareness of computer-related
topics.
- General English: This section tests your proficiency in English language comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and language usage.
- Candidates applying for the entrance exam must possess a any bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of full-time study, majoring in Mathematics or Statistics at 10+2 or graduation level. Additionally, candidates with a B.E/B.Tech degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants who have completed a 3-year B.Sc/B.Sc (Hons)/ BCA/BIT/BBA degree from Open Universities are also eligible to apply for the entrance exam.
- For Indian National candidates, a minimum aggregate of 60% or a CGPA of 6.5/10 is required in their qualifying examination. However, SC/ST candidates must have scored a minimum of 55% marks or a CGPA of 6.0/10 to be eligible for the exam.
- Candidates who are in the final year of their qualifying examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the entrance exam.
- For overall eligibility criteria of 60% or 6.5/10 CGPA, it refers to the aggregate percentage or CGPA obtained across all six semesters of the candidate's bachelor's degree.
- Students who are in the fifth semester and have a percentage below 60% in their graduation can still apply for the NIMCET exam.
- However, they must ensure that they secure a higher percentage in their sixth semester so that their overall aggregate percentage becomes 60% or more (not 59.99%).
- For example, if a student has 59% or below in the fifth semester, they should work hard to achieve a higher percentage in the sixth semester to meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 60% overall.
- Only when the candidate's aggregate percentage after the sixth semester is 60% or more, they become eligible to fill the NIMCET application form( Appearing students can apply as per above condition),
- Mode
of Exam: The exam will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test
(CBT) mode.
- Duration:
Candidates will be given a total of 2 hours (120 minutes) to complete the
entire paper.
- Total
Questions: The exam will consist of a total of 120 questions.
- Type
of Questions: All the questions in the NIMCET 2024 exam will be in
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) format.
- Language:
The exam will be available in the English language only.
- Sections:
The question paper will be divided into 4 sections, and each section will
carry different marks.
Mathematics:
- Total Number of Questions: 50
- Marks Awarded for Correct Answer: +12
- Marks Deducted for Wrong Answer: - 03
- Total Marks: 600
Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning:
- Total Number of Questions: 40
- Marks Awarded for Correct Answer: +06
- Marks Deducted for Wrong Answer: -1.5
- Total Marks: 240Computer Awareness:
- Total Number of Questions: 20
- Marks Awarded for Correct Answer: +6
- Marks Deducted for Wrong Answer: -1.5

General English:
